SUMMARY:Come & Sing: A German Requiem – Brahms
DESCRIPTION:Join KCS to explore Brahms’ much loved choral masterpiece led
  by our talented Musical Director\, Andrew Griffiths with accompanist Gavi
 n Roberts. This superbly tender work was inspired by the deaths of two peo
 ple dear to Brahms\, his mentor Robert Schumann and his mother.\n\nWith te
 xt derived from Luther’s German Bible\, rather than the traditional Lati
 n\, Ein Deutches Requiem bypasses standard liturgy with its fearsome Dies 
 Irae. Rather than dwelling on the judgement of the dead\, Brahms is concer
 ned with consoling the living. It is this spiritual empathy that makes wha
 t he called his “human Requiem” so moving for us today.\n\nIf you love
  this marvellous music\, and would like to know it better\, or if you just
  want to give singing with KCS a try\, book your place now. If you don’t
  have your own score\, we will have copies to lend you. We will be using t
 he Peters edition of the score and it will be sung in German.\n\nWe will r
 efresh you with tea\, coffee and cake in the interval. There will be more 
 tempting cake on sale\, and a raffle.\n\nWe expect this to be a popular ev
 ent\, so please book a place in advance to avoid disappointment using the
