Rhymes & Charms
A summery programme of songs and madrigals from across the centuries celebrating the natural world, especially all things airborne. Kerry Andrew’s Rhymes & Charms for Flyaway Things combines traditional rhymes and sayings from around the UK into “a very sweet, nature-loving set of songs”. Meanwhile John Rutter’s The Sprig of Thyme presents familiar folk melodies in fresh, beautifully harmonised arrangements. Well-loved madrigals about nature complete our programme, including the remarkable Bee Madrigal by Rev. Charles Butler, the 17th century “Father of English Beekeeping”.
