Monteverdi’s monumental setting of the Vespers was revolutionary in its own time and has lost none of its freshness and vitality four centuries later. From simple hymns to exuberant ten-part choruses, this is a work full of contrast and colour by a composer at the height of his powers. KCS is joined by six soloists and the outstanding musicians of the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble and Purcell Orchestra. An unmissable occasion!
